Did you know that rice is the staple food of more than one-half of the world's population?

Rice or Khao (in Thai), can be enjoyed today all over the world.  Jasmine or fragrant scented rice is a long grain rice with a tender nutty aromatic grain which is the preferred rice throughout Thailand.  In Thai cuisine your rice is the center piece of your meal, it is the most important ingredient in Thai cooking.
When it was time to eat my mom would always yell to us “gin kao” which in short translation means "eat rice".  For Thai cuisine rice is your “meat” per say and everything else the vegetables, soups, meats, curries, stir fry all of this is gravy that accompanies the rice.  Ghap kao or things eaten with rice.
